This is really the best blog ever.

Movies watched in August 2011 | September 5, 2011

152) Alphaville (1965) – 1/10 – (8.1) – OMG, what a boring piece of crap. Couldn’t even finish it.
153) To Kill a Mockumentary (2006) – 7/10 – What a funny, entertaining, stupid movie. Plus, Mickey Rooney! (Tim Thomerson steals the film, though.)
154) Othello (2001) – 9/10 – (8.2) Christopher Eccleston and Eamonn Walker in the modernisation of Othello is one of, if not the best reinvention of Shakespeare to date.
155) Hamlet (1996) – 2/10 – (8.7) – Completely boring and stifling, couldn’t even finish it.
156) The Sunset Limited (2011) – 10/10 – (8.9) – Compelling and powerful performance by two incredible actors.
157) The Conspirator (2010) – 9/10 – Just a phenomenal movie. Compelling performances, interesting story, wonderful set and costuming.
158) Cannibal! The Musical (1996) – 1/10 – (8.12) – Complete shit.
159) Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) – 7/10 – Good movie, but not great. Awfully slow in a lot of places, surprisingly enough, but still enjoyable and saved by lots of good performances, esp from Newman and Redford.
160) Carriers (2009) – 5/10 – (8.13) – Decent post biological apocalypse movie, but nothing special. Falls prey to the stupid-decisions-lead-to-dramatic-sequences school of screenwriting, something all too common in this genre.
161) Say Anything (1989) – 8/10 – (8.17) – Very good, cute movie. I can see why everyone liked it so much.
162) Zombiemania (2008) – 9/10 – (8.18) – Very awesome documentary on the zombie craze.
163) Cowboys and Zombies (2010) – 6/10 – (8.19) – Cheesy, fun zombie flick in a western setting.
164) Mesrine: Killer Instinct (2008) – 8/10 – Vincent Cassel excels in this biodrama about Jacques Mesrine. Will definitely be watching the 2nd part soon.
165) Strangers on a Train (1951) – 4/10 – (8.20) – Rather disappointing in it’s forced situations and stupid decisions needed to further the plot. Melodrama does not equate dramatic tension.
166) Green Lantern (2011) – 6/10 – (8.22) – Enjoyable, though suffers from the trying to cram too much into a movie complex that plagues many superhero movies.
167) Limitless (2011) – 7/10 – (8.24) – Fun popcorn movie, fun premise, light on the plot. Bradley Cooper is extremely entertaining.
168) Mesrine: Public Enemy (2008) – (8.26) – 8/10 – Cassel rocks this biopic as gangster Jacques Mesrine.
169) The Tempest (2010) – 6/10 – (8.27) – enjoyable but seems to fall flat? Never saw the play, or read it, so cannot compare that.
170) The Warrior’s Way (2010) – 10/10 – (8.28) – Super-fun amazing fantasy romp. Geoffrey Rush as a drunk cowboy type. No, really. You know it’s that awesome.
171) Dead Man (1995) – (8.30) – 8/10 – Highly enjoyable, completely strange movie.

Best Movie – The Warrior’s Way, hands down. It just rocked, delivered everything it promised. (Worth noting is The Sunset Limited, a wonderful performance by two great actors.)
Worst movie – Alphaville and Cannibal! The Musical share that dubious distinction. Most disappointing movie goes to Branagh’s Hamlet. What a snoozer.
