Torchwood 1918 – this could be cool as hell | August 2, 2011

So, I’ve been re-watching the Torchwood series, and am early in the 2nd series. Specifically, episode 3, “To The Last Man”, about Tommy, the soldier who was cryogenically frozen and had to save the day by… well, I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t seen the show.

Two members of Torchwood in 1918 are seen, and this got me to thinking – wouldn’t it be neat if they did a series (in British telly, they call them series, we Americans call ’em seasons) about 1918’s team? A short run, 4 or 6, 8 at the most, episodes, one over-arcing storyline – some alien plot trying to take advantage of Earth during The Great War, or the aftermath.

They could even have Tommy in (the accounts of his death being faked to cover his joining the team.) And, who knows, perhaps a cameo appearance by Cap’n Jack.

(Actually, a series of stories, set in different time periods, with different eras of Torchwood, would be spiffy.)

  2. I’ve had an idea for a Canadian Torchwood team called “Torchwood: Too Drunk to Fuck”.

They solve most problems by hitting things, and have a gay guy in charge, but he’s all domesticated. It’s pretty high concept, but I like it.

    • And instead of following the pizza delivery, the Canuck cop traces their poutine ordering habits?
